Our Story

With humble beginnings, our team at ICBH started as a backyard passion project. Mike Barker, Craig Brodie and Kyle Blandford started brewing on a wood-fired, old world brewing system.

The days spent brewing, and of course, enjoying the finished product, often included discussion about what their dream brewery would look like. Over time, this dream came together; pen met paper, paper turned into hands-on labour. Our team, alongside the skilled tradespeople of Sarnia, built what is now Imperial City Brew House at 1330 Exmouth St. The team adopted Sarnia’s nickname of the “The Imperial City”, a nod to Sarnia’s regal history.

We are honoured to be part of Sarnia’s growing history and proudly proclaim that Imperial City Brew House takes pride in providing the very best selections of premium craft beer.

 OUR GENERAL MANAGER

RINA BARKER has been with ICBH from the very beginning and has been monumental in shaping ICBH to become what it is today. Years of experience in business and customer service shine through during our ups and downs of owning and operating such a large venture and she takes it all in stride, while also winning awards for her incredible customer service and creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere for all our guests. Planning events, behind the scenes or behind the bar, she'll be here to greet you with a smile every time you visit us at Imperial City Brew House.

BREWMASTER / OPERATIONS

Niagara native TIM MILLER comes to Imperial City via a life filled with adventure and a thirst for knowledge, (get it?) combined with a desire to make things people enjoy.

He has a passion for trying new things, including packing in as many live music shows as he can possibly get to. He has a firm belief in living a life that brings joy, through family, friends, music... and beer! (See why he's such a good fit here?)

Tim started with home brewing, and has a background in both the culinary and machining fields. He has formal training and certification as a Brewmaster from the esteemed Niagara College program, as well as a post grad certification in artisan distilling. He has travelled the country brewing and gaining invaluable practical experience and knowledge.

Nothing makes Tim happier than seeing the smile on a customer's face when they try one of his creations. Next time you're at Imperial City, make sure to say hi!
